Wimbledon starts June 22

The glass roof is polished and the freshly cut grass is awaiting the players at Wimbledon. From Monday 22nd of June the first ball will be served and many of the tennis players below the top-100 can finaly get a shot at the big championship. The qualifying round will run until Thursday 25th of June and only then will the draw be made for the actual championship that will be held from Monday 29th of June until the 12th of July. We’re of course cheering for Andy Murray. Otherwise the favourites remain the same Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. For the women’s championship the favourites are Serena Williams, of course, but also Maria Sharapova and Petra...

Djokovic wins in insane match

A pretty big drama was needed for Novak Djokovic to book a place in the French Open final. The Wimbledon champion had to go on a limb on the fifth set against Andy Murray and there was fire in both players from start to end. On the first 2 sets, the Serbian got away with 6-3, 6-3 but then Murray made a pretty big comeback. He won third set with 7-5 and the fourth with the same score. However, in the fifth set there wasn’t much to ponder about as Djokovic ruled the court and won 6-1. He then faced Stan Wawrinka in the finals on Sunday and lost despite his stronger position and him clearly being the...

Rainy weather puts a stop to semifinal

We must arm ourselves with patience if we are to see who will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the men’s French Open final. This is because the semifinals between Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic and British Andy Murray was cancelled because of rainy weather and storm on Friday. Djokovic is up with 2-1 in sets, it is still very exciting though. The Serbian took the first two sets with 6-3, 6-3 but then Murray returned and won third set with 7-5. He also broke the Djokovic’s serve in the fourth set however it got broken back and so now they will start at 3-3 in the fourth set. The match will be played, if all goes as planned, before the women’s finals between Serena Williams and Lucie...

Wimbledon vs French Open

There wasn’t much love in the air as Novak Djokovic beat the great Rafael Nadal in the French Open quarter finals. One would have thought that the “moral final” would have been a fair fight, where choosing a favorite would have been impossible. But for the second time in 11 years Nadal had to realise that there wouldn’t be another French Open title waiting for him this time. In 2009 he had to give up his place to Robin Söderling and then Roger Federer ended up taking the title home. We will have to wait for a Wimbledon live streaming to start in order to see Nadal’s revenge against Djokovic, if he gets past...

Seven times Wimbledon champ knocked out

It might be that Roger Federer has won Wimbledon an amazing seven times. It might also be that he was seeded in the good half of French Open. But he can’t really brag about it anymore as the elegant swiss player got knocked out from the French championship with a bang. Facing  Stan Wawrinka there was simply nothing he could do, this turned out to be quite an impressive and easy victory with three sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. Federer was otherwise leading and had strong stats before the game (16-2), besides he hadn’t beaten King Fed in a Grand Slam until...

Wimbledon champ is out

There wasn’t much love for the women champions at French Open 2015. The defending French Open champion, Maria Sharapova, got defeated and then the 2014 wimbledon champ also went “au revoir”. Petra Kvitova was, surprisingly, defeated by Timea Bacsinszky from Switzerland who is barely seeded as number 23. But she went all out and won 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 and went for the first time into the quarter finals. There she faced Alison Van Uytvanck and defeated...
