Britain in Davis Cup for first time in decades

As we wait for US Open to begin the 31st of August we can already now start to look forward to a historic event for the UK as the Davis Cup semifinals are set to take place from the 18th September to the 20th. On the one hand Great Britain will be playing against Australia and on the other it will be Argentina versus Belgium. Britain has not been able to advance into the Davis Cup semifinals in 34 years, however Andy Murray’s victory over French Gilles Simon on Sunday opened up a spot for Britain into the semifinals. The last time Britain reached the semifinals was back in 1981 where they got defeated by Argentina. It has always been a hurtful experience to watch as Britain get’s eliminated from the Davis Cup time and time again. This time they made it and Britain will hopefully go on to the...

For the women’s championship the favourites are Serena Williams, of course, but also Maria Sharapova and Petra...

Djokovic wins in insane match

A pretty big drama was needed for Novak Djokovic to book a place in the French Open final. The Wimbledon champion had to go on a limb on the fifth set against Andy Murray and there was fire in both players from start to end. On the first 2 sets, the Serbian got away with 6-3, 6-3 but then Murray made a pretty big comeback. He won third set with 7-5 and the fourth with the same score. However, in the fifth set there wasn’t much to ponder about as Djokovic ruled the court and won 6-1. He then faced Stan Wawrinka in the finals on Sunday and lost despite his stronger position and him clearly being the...

Rainy weather puts a stop to semifinal

We must arm ourselves with patience if we are to see who will face Stanislas Wawrinka in the men’s French Open final. This is because the semifinals between Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic and British Andy Murray was cancelled because of rainy weather and storm on Friday. Djokovic is up with 2-1 in sets, it is still very exciting though. The Serbian took the first two sets with 6-3, 6-3 but then Murray returned and won third set with 7-5. He also broke the Djokovic’s serve in the fourth set however it got broken back and so now they will start at 3-3 in the fourth set. The match will be played, if all goes as planned, before the women’s finals between Serena Williams and Lucie...

Wimbledon vs French Open

There wasn’t much love in the air as Novak Djokovic beat the great Rafael Nadal in the French Open quarter finals. One would have thought that the “moral final” would have been a fair fight, where choosing a favorite would have been impossible. But for the second time in 11 years Nadal had to realise that there wouldn’t be another French Open title waiting for him this time. In 2009 he had to give up his place to Robin Söderling and then Roger Federer ended up taking the title home. We will have to wait for a Wimbledon live streaming to start in order to see Nadal’s revenge against Djokovic, if he gets past...
